Game Versions
There are many different versions of Flyff out
there. The current servers that are out are Korean Flyff,
Japan Flyff, Philippines Flyff,
China Flyff, Taiwan Flyff, Thailand
Flyff, and English Flyff (Also International
Flyff).
At the moment, English FlyFF and
Philippines Flyff are in open beta. GMs are rather
active for International Flyff and is usually holding
events whether in-game or off-game.
NOTE: Philippines Flyff is also
in English, but it will only accept connections from IPs that are
of Philippine origin. In other words, if you don't live in the Philippines,
you don't get to play Philippines Flyff. However,
this notion has a possiblity of changing in the future. Until then,
you can play on the International Flyff servers.
Furthermore, in an effort to support those companies that have purchased
the rights to distribute Flyff, any region that
has an active Flyff server can not play on any
other region's server. (Example: If you live in Japan, you can only
play Japanese Flyff. If you try play on International
Flyff, you will be banned, and vice versa.)
Most versions of Flyff are run
by a separate company that is affiliated with Aeonsoft. Below are
some of the different companies running official, licensed Flyff
servers.
· Aeonsoft - Aeonsoft hosts the Korean
Flyff servers.
· Gala-Net Inc. - Gala-Net Inc. serves the International
community with English Flyff.
· Leadinia Co. Ltd. - Leadinia serves China with Chinese
Flyff.
· Excite Japan Co. Ltd - Excite Japan serves Japan with Japanese
Flyff.
· NetGames - NetGames serves the Philippines
with Philippine Flyff.
· Ini3 - Ini3 serves Thailand with Thai Flyff.
Flyff is continually updated periodically
with new features such as new classes and areas to explore. None
of the official servers are at the moment pay-to-play, but adapt
a free-to-play system with revenue coming in from a cash shop where
you can buy items. Servers like the Japanese Flyff
servers have already started using the cash shop. Items like cat
suits or SailorMoon outfits were sold and even better riding items
like a riding cloud, which flies faster than your normal broom/board.
The Korean and Japanese versions of Flyff
are currently more updated than the Chinese, Philippines, and English
versions. However, these versions are rapidly catching up to their
counterparts.
Story
From the Global official site: (http://flyff.gpotato.com)
In ancient times, five Gods of Lais sought to create a new world
with new inhabitants that could live harmoniously among them. They
gathered and agreed to create Roika Mainland; their new world. They
created water and the earth, animals and plants as well as Humans.
At this time, and at all times in Roika Mainland, it is a time of
peace.
After years of peace, the gods decided to leave
Roika Mainland and create a new world. With this, in an attempt
to maintain the golden age of Roika mainland the Gods of Lais handed
all of the secrets of the land as well as the core part of the revolution-genesis
gear over to the kind race of Dwarf. The gods only wish was that
the world would remain as beautiful and peaceful as it was in their
rule…….
Simultaneously, to bring happiness to the race
of human, the Gods created Comedian-Clown. The Comedian Clown became
enraged about bringing happiness to the race of Human and split
its personality into three identities; Imagination Ipuli, Shadow
Shield and Chromospheres Bobor. Under the initiation of the evil
Shadow Shield, the main body-Imagination Ipuli not only chased away
the kind Chromospheres Bobor, but also created numerous Human attacking
monsters. These monsters took away the revolution-genesis-gear of
the race dwarf and developed a new Mainland; a mainland that was
angrier, stronger and prepared to destroy the race of Human.
To save the mainland from chaos, the Chromospheres
Bobor inherited the mystical ancient-science and black magic of
Human. For the restoration of harmonious simple life, the citizens
of Roika Mainland were forced to become warriors who would fight
against the evil shadow Shield and uphold the wish of the gods.
Outnumbered and outmatched, the race Human prepares
themselves for a battle that may prove to be their end!
Game Mechanics
Flyff's interface, like most other MMORPGs, is
pretty basic once you get a feel for it.
When leveling up your character, the following stats can be modified
by adding points once you level up.
Strength - This is the primary
factor in determining the damage you deal for vagrants, mercenaries
and assists. Mages have no need for this stat.
Stamina - This determines how
high or low your character's max HP, max FP and your Defense Rate
is.
Dexterity - This determines how
effectively you can dodge monsters (evasion rate), your attack speed
(not yet implemented) and your accuracy (hit rate). Dexterity does
not directly affect the critical hit rate.
Intelligence - This determines
how high your character's max MP is and also determines how powerful
the spells you cast are, as well as the duration of buffs or the
amount healed.
When looking at your status window, here are some
important terms to remember:
HP - Your character's health points. (The topmost
bar)
MP - Your character's mana(magic) points. (The second bar)
FP - Your character's endurance points. These points are used to
execute melee attack skills. (The third bar)
EXP - Your character's experience points. In Flyff,
when you look at your status screen, you'll see a percentage. That
percentage shows the total experience(%) that you have out of the
total needed to level up. (The second-last bar)
PXP - PXP is needed in order to level up your skills/spells after
changing your job for the first time. Without PXP, even when you
cast spells or use skills, your spells/skills won't gain experience
to level up. Don't worry, you can regain your PXP simply by killing
monsters. Any percentage you get is okay, as long as it's enough
for your skill/spell to consume.
Classes
There are three classes and six sub-classes in
Flyff: Vagrants change to Mercenaries, Magicians,
or Assists at Level 15.
Mercenaries (Uses swords or axes.) 2nd class -
Knights or Blades at Level 60.
Magicians (Uses wands or staffs.) 2nd class - Psykeepers
or Elementers at Level 60.
Assists (Uses sticks or knuckles.) 2nd class -
Billposters or Ringmasters at Level 60.
Acrobats (Uses yo-yos and bows.) 2nd class - Ranger
or Jester at Level 60
Something to note: Acrobats are not implemented yet in International
and Philippine Flyff, but International
Flyff will implement them on December 20, 2005 when it
goes commercial.
Description
Beginning
Vagrant - This is basically the beginning class. It's the
class that you'll start out with, and once you hit Level 15, you
may choose to change to a more powerful class. Vagrants cannot go
past Level 15 unless they change classes. They can use sword and
axe weapons.
First Classes
Mercenary - This is a class that
is suited for melee fighting. Mercenaries use weapons such as Swords
and Axes. High strength, stamina and dexterity are some traits of
this class. A mercenary can become either a Knight or Blade when
they hit Level 60.
Magician - The Magician is the magic caster. Magicians
use weapons such as Wands and Staffs. They can cast powerful spells
and usually attack from afar because their other stats (besides
intelligence) aren't very high compared to other classes. They commonly
have the lowest hp among all the classes. You can change into a
Psykeeper or Elementer at Level 60.
Assist - Assists can be either go full support
or become a battle assist. Assists can use weapons such as Sticks
and Knuckles. They have skills like healing, and also buffing (buffing
is using skills to increase the stats of characters temporarily).
They also have a few battle skills for battle assists. You can change
into either a Billposter or Ringmaster at Level 60.
Acrobat - This class is not implemented in International
FlyFF yet at the time of this writing. Acrobats uses Yo-Yos
or Bows. You can change into a Ranger or Jester at Level 60.
Second Classes (Mercenary)
Knight - The Knight is basically the tank of Flyff.
With the ability to wield powerful armor and weapons, they can take
damage and dish it out without much trouble.
Blade - The Blade is basically the assassin of Flyff.
With the ability to do very fast attacks and use two weapons at
once, they are able to do a considerable amount of damage in a short
amount of time. This is why they are the primary damage dealers
in most groups.
Second Classes (Magician)
Psykeeper - The Psykeeper is basically the master
of hexes on enemies. With powerful skills that can damage enemies
from the inside, they are a valuable asset to many parties.
Elementer - The Elementer is basically the ultimate offensive
spellcaster in Flyff. They are the best damage
dealers in the game, can cast area of effect spells and are highly
sought after in parties. However, they have lower HP compared to
other classes.
Second Classes (Assist)
Billposter - The Billposter is basically the offensive
version of the Assist. Unlike the Ringmaster, the Billposter has
some offensive skills that are very effective. The Billposter also
can heal and buff, although it is normally weaker than a Ringmaster's.
Ringmaster - The ultimate healer and buffer. This character
is vital in parties as they have some of the most powerful buffs
in the entire game. It is not an easy character to train, but if
you stick to it and know how to use it, its rewards can be great.
Second Classes (Acrobat)
Ranger - This class is not implemented in International
FlyFF yet at the time of this writing. Rangers use Bows.
Jester - This class is not implemented in International
FlyFF yet at the time of this writing. Jesters use Yo-Yos.
Areas/Cities
Flaris - This is the city that you start out in. This place
is very beginner-oriented, so you'll have an easy time leveling
up. Flaris was originally a very prosperous city, until St. Morning
was set up and many people started to head there instead. This is
the city where you'll experience your first job change, experience
flying for the first time, and where you'll do the majority of your
leveling until you hit Level 20 and up.
Saint Morning - Saint Morning is located in the southern
part of the continent. As indicated by its name, Saint Morning is
a very religious city. The city is surrounded by a tall cliff, which
is used as a station for flying battleships. With many roads leading
to Saint Morning, it's no wonder why this city is so prosperous.
The official Global site recommends that Saint Morning be visited
by characters who are in the 17-50 level zone.
Darkon - According to the official Flyff
site, Darkon is known as the "City of Minders". It is
a very dangerous area with many thieves and strong monsters. Visitors
should take caution when entering.
Darkon2 - Darkon2 is a huge cave where the central city
of Darcon Island is located. It is a very dangerous place where
crazy monsters roam free and insane machines affected by minerals
inhabit.
Darkon3 - Darkon3 is used as a testing ground for people
who want to have their second job change. Darkon3 is divided into
eight areas, Herret, Cendil, Ancient Night, Arians, Magmient, Brakin,
Death Wilderness, and Guardian. After the Hero War, the descendants
of Darkon3 set up altars which honored the heroes of Darkon3. The
altars are located in Herret, Cendil, Ancientnight, Arians, Magmient,
and Brakin. Here are brief descriptions of each of the areas in
Darkon3:
· Herret - An area that was contaminated
by Aes. As a result, most of the living creatures there are also
contaminated.
· Cendil - Bascically the same as Herret
but more dangerous since there's more powerful monsters. This area
also incorporates a mushroom theme.
· Ancient Night - This area is a giant forest.
There is a legend that there's a guardian that watches over the
trees.
· Arians - An area that is said to be human-made,
but nobody knows how it actually came about. Some people believe
that people who drink water from the area get special powers.
· Magmient - An area full of lava and toxic
gases, with no signs of life anywhere.
· Brakin - This area was an industrial area,
but none of the factories are operational anymore.
· Death Wilderness - Exactly as the name
suggests. No living things exist there because it is filled with
poisonous gases.
· Guardian - The final resting place of
heroes who died during the Hero War. This was one of the final battlegrounds
during that war.
Note: There are many more areas in this game that have not been
described in this section. This cities/areas in this section have
been merely taken from the International
